Ancient seaport on the "Pictons" gulf, in the very heart of the Mignon river valley so rich in neolitic sites, the village of La Grève was very active at the beginning of this century thanks to its brick factory, which will soon be restaured. The campsite is located close to the separation line between Charente-Maritime and Deux-Sèvres, at the edge of the Mignon river. Very shady and calm this two stars rated campsite offers 120 square meters. Its amenities include 2 sanitary blocks and electricity connections, playground and resting area. On the spot you can rent rowboats and bikes. Nearby, tennis, swimming facilities and horse back riding. A few kilometers away you will visit the village of Courçon d'Aunis and its tumulus and Saint Hilaire la Palud and its peculiar tower bell. Here also shops and stores are available. Our site is very near the ocean, close to the Vendée Beaches, the isles of Ré and Oléron, the well known resorts of Chatelaillon an Fouras, the enchanting city of La Rochelle, the old military harbour of Rochefort with its three centuries old navy ropes factory and where is actually built a full size replica of the fregate "Hermione" who took part in the independance war of north america. The short distance between our campsite and these various places of interest will enable you to pay them a visit while still fully enjoying the calm of the surrounding contryside and benefit of inland lower prices. The geographical location of our site will enable you to ride a moutain bike to the tipical sites of the Poitou marshes such as Coulon, Arçais, La Garette or Magné. You could also visit the renaissance city of Fontenay le Comte or the medieval heart of Niort. With very easy access from the A10 motorway (15 minutes) the camping site of La Grève is an ideal stop-over for resting for a while during a holiday trip in our region. (Exit 33, in La Rochelle direction, then follow La Laigne and La Grève s/le Mignon signs posts). Pets are welcome on this site.
